About KCDCKinross Curling Development Club (KCDC) was formed in 2010; the main purpose being to provide beginners with an opportunity to meet and play with curlers of similar ability while offering coaching sessions to improve curling technique and knowledge in a relaxed and friendly environment. This acts as a perfect pathway between learning to play and joining a mainstream curling club.
To give you an idea how beneficial KCDC is, here's a word from Colin Bruce, a past President: "Having completed my first full year, I can honestly say that it has been a long time since I have taken up a new sport and been so overwhelmed by the friendliness and helpfulness, not only of the members and coaches with whom I have had contact, but moreover the wider curling community who have ensured that my first season was certainly not my last. May I wish you all well and a very happy curling season to come in our newly refurbished Kinross Curling Rink". KCDC is based at Kinross Curling Rink, behind the Green Hotel. The rink underwent a million pound renovation in the summer of 2014 with further improvement plans in the pipeline, providing us with perfect conditions to play. There is a bar/lounge upstairs, where you are welcome to come and watch the curling. Please feel free to come along and see why so many people love the sport. Benefits of KCDC membership include: - Reduced membership to Scottish curling's governing body, the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC); - Receiving an RCCC New Members Pack; - The opportunity to play in each of the four playing positions alongside members of similar experience, to broaden ones understanding of the game through the specific roles of each player; - Coaching in a relaxed atmosphere, with coaches readily prepared to answer any questions that may arise during games; - KCDC acts as a pathway for new curlers to develop from the Beginners Class to joining a mainstream club by developing playing skills & experience. - Members will be eligible to enter the National Virtual Club Bonspiel at the end of each season. |
