Monday night saw KCDC play their first game of the season against Fossoway Ladies. Thea team of Colin Bruce (skip), Mark Pryce (third), Colin Ballantine (second) and Karen Hart (lead) got off to a flier with both lead and second putting stones in the house to start what was to be a successful first outing. The game was hard fought and saw many stones being well played by the KCDC team to remove opposition stones at the right time. The ice was a little different to what had been experienced by our opposition in previous years but knowing nothing else KCDC just played their game and managed to score well in the first few ends. Towards the end and in particular on the last end the bell having gone and leading 7 -1, the other side came alive and they were lying 6 in the house as our skip came to the hack. Thankfully Colin was able to draw two stones in amongst the oppositions stones cutting them to a 4 and winning the game. Our opposition were very supportive of our endeavours and it would be fair to say suffered from one being injured and far too many short stones. Thanks to Colin, Karen, Colin and Mark for their efforts in achieving what I can only hope is the first of many wins for KCDC this season. Special mention must go to Colin Ballantine in what was his very first game for KCDC. Well done guys!
